Brief summary of duties:
The Bathroom Brands Group is seeking an experienced Stock Control Manager to oversee the Stock Controllers, Goods In Team, Returns Team, and Repackaging Team at our National Distribution Centre (NDC) in Dartford. This is a critical role responsible for managing inventory accuracy, executing perpetual inventory (PI) counting, and handling day-to-day stock variances across multiple shifts. The ideal candidate will be a meticulous leader, able to execute detailed investigations into discrepancies, while working closely with the Warehouse Layout and Optimisation Manager to optimise stock storage and picking performance.
As the Stock Control Manager, you will lead a team of stock controllers, overseeing the entire inventory management process. This includes monitoring stock levels, managing goods in, ensuring returns are processed efficiently, and maintaining inventory accuracy. You will be responsible for conducting detailed investigations into stock variances and reporting to the Site General Manager. In partnership with the Warehouse Layout and Optimisation Manager, you will ensure that goods are put away efficiently in optimal locations, driving the performance of the picking team and overall operational efficiency. Additionally, you will ensure that returned stock is handled promptly and customers are credited swiftly.
Key areas of responsibility:
Team Leadership & Management
- Manage and lead the Stock Control Team, including Stock Controllers, Goods In, Returns, and Repackaging Teams.
- Ensure that all team members are trained and equipped to carry out their roles efficiently across multiple shifts.
- Provide daily guidance and motivation to the team, ensuring a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency in all operations.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching where necessary to improve team efficiency and skills.
Inventory Control & Stock Variances
- Oversee perpetual inventory (PI) counting, ensuring stock accuracy and quick resolution of any discrepancies.
- Investigate stock variances thoroughly, working with the team to identify the root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Report on stock variances and inventory status regularly to the Site General Manager.
- Collaborate with the Warehouse Layout and Optimisation Manager to ensure that inventory is put away efficiently in locations that will improve picking performance and operational efficiency. Determination Professionalism Mutual Respect Loyalty Family & Happiness
Goods In & Returns Management
- Work closely with the Goods In Team to ensure smooth receiving and put-away of stock is optimized to drive maximum replenishment efficiency.
- Ensure that stock is placed in the most optimal locations to support quick and efficient replenishment.
- Manage returns processing, ensuring returned goods are appropriately reallocated and credit is issued to customers swiftly.
- Ensure the Returns Team follows accurate procedures for inspecting, repackaging, and restocking returned items.
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance stock control operations and overall warehouse efficiency.
- Work alongside the Warehouse Layout and Optimisation Manager to execute the optimal stock layout, ensuring goods are stored in locations that drive improved pick performance and replenishment efficiency.
- Provide detailed reports on stock accuracy, variances, and team performance to senior management, with actionable insights for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, maintaining a clean and safe working environment for the stock control teams.
Key internal and external relationships:
- Foster a strong working relationship with warehouse, logistics, and customer service teams, ensuring smooth communication and operations.
- Communicate regularly with the Warehouse Layout and Optimisation Manager to ensure stock is stored in the most optimal locations, improving picking accuracy and speed.
- Work closely with the repackaging team to ensure that goods are packaged efficiently and meet quality standards.
Key skills and qualifications:
- Proven experience in stock control or inventory management, ideally within a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Strong leadership experience, with the ability to manage multiple teams across different shifts.
- Experience in managing stock variances and performing detailed investigations into discrepancies.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems (WMS, ERP), and advanced MS Excel skills for reporting and data analysis.
- Strong understanding of PI counting processes and stock auditing.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other managers to drive operational efficiency.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
