Brief summary of duties:
Alongside the Chief Financial Officer, Financial Controller and Financial Accountant, responsibility for the accurate accounting of the entities in the group and providing financial advice and support to colleagues to enable them to make sound business decisions.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Providing and interpreting financial information; prepare the monthly Management Accounts within five business days of the month end.
- Prepare year end schedules for the audit and be one of the lead contacts for the audit field team.
- Prepare and submit the quarterly VAT submissions for the UK and Ireland. Ensure compliance with tax legislation, including timely reporting and payment submissions to HMRC.
- Responsible for the all accounting of the Bathroom Brands (direct from Asia) distribution business in close cooperation with our team in Singapore.
- Oversee the businesses internal control system. Review regularly and improve as and when required.
- Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
- Communicate performance against budget to the Directors and respective departmental heads (the “budget holders”) monthly. Investigate and challenge any variances to the plan.
- Produce accurate financial reports to specific deadlines.
- Research and report on factors influencing business performance.
- Develop financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk.
- Keep abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation.
- Duties include, but are not limited to, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, variance analysis, foreign exchange reconciliations.
- Other ad hoc projects including assisting fellow team members.
Key skills:
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience of working in a Management Accounting role within a Finance Department of corporate or larger SME.
- CIMA/ACCA qualified/finalist.
- Ability to effectively supervise an Accounts Assistant.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks all with an attention to fine detail.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Confident decision maker.
- Ability to drive effective and efficient financial processes and procedures.
- Ability to prepare management and statutory accounts to a high standard.
- MS Dynamics 365 experience desirable.
- Advanced Excel skills, advanced skills using various accounting software / ERP systems.
